Position Profile

We are seeking a Senior Patent Executive / Patent Executive with solid knowledge and practical experience in patent and design law and practice. The role will focus primarily on patent and design prosecution, portfolio management, and client advisory work in Thailand and other jurisdictions, including coordination with clients and foreign associates.

The successful candidate will also have opportunities to work on more complex matters, including infringement, enforcement, and other contentious patent and design matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle and coordinate patent and design matters in Thailand and other jurisdictions, from filing and prosecution through registration, and post-grant matters.
  • Manage domestic and international patent and design portfolios, including coordinating instructions, deadlines, filings, and prosecution activities with clients and foreign associates.
  • Review Office Actions, examination reports, and other official communications, and develop or recommend appropriate prosecution strategies and responses.
  • Advise clients on patent and design protection, prosecution strategies, filing requirements, deadlines, and related
  • Handle or coordinate patentability, prior-art, freedom-to-operate (FTO), patent landscape and other relevant IP searches and analyses, as required.
  • Assist with infringement, validity, enforcement, and other contentious patent and design matters, where required.

Requirements

  • At least three (3) years of relevant work experience in patent and design practice, preferably gained in a law firm
  • A legal or other relevant academic background is preferred. A degree in a technical or scientific field is not required.
  • Being a registered Thai Patent Agent would be an advantage.
  • Sound knowledge and practical experience in Thai patent and design laws and procedures. Knowledge of and experience with other jurisdictions would be an advantage.
  • Ability to handle day-to-day patent and design matters independently with minimal supervision, while working effectively as part of a team and collaborating with clients, foreign associates, and colleagues across different functions.
  • Good analytical, organizational, and client-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters, priorities, and deadlines effectively while maintaining close attention to detail.
  • Fluent in English and Thai, with effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive and solutions-oriented approach, with a strong sense of ownership and persistence in following matters through to completion.
  • Eagerness to learn, develop new skills, and grow professionally within the patent and design practice.
