Thailand Trademark Filing and Registration Statistics 2025: Key Trends and Developments

As we enter the first quarter of 2026, it is an opportune time to review Thailand’s trademark filing and registration statistics for 2025. Based on official data released by the Department of Intellectual Property of Thailand, this overview highlights key filing trends, applicant behavior, and the broader trajectory of intellectual property activity in the country.

In 2025, Thailand received a total of 52,194 trademark applications, marking the highest number recorded in past five years. Of these, approximately 75% were submitted through the electronic filing system, while the remaining 25% were filed in paper form.

Of the 52,194 applications filed, the top five categories reflect prevailing market trends and evolving consumer behavior. Sales and marketing services ranked first, followed by cleaning and beauty products in second place and electronic tools and equipment in third. Health and sanitary products ranked fourth, while apparel products completed the top five.

These figures highlight the continued strength of online shopping and digital commerce, as well as sustained consumer demand for personal care, hygiene, and self-care products that remain essential in daily life. The growing integration of technology, particularly smart devices and digital solutions, continues to drive innovation and trademark activity in the electronics sector. At the same time, increasing consumer awareness of health, wellness, and preventive care has supported strong filings in health-related categories. Despite intense competition, the fashion industry remains dynamic, propelled by evolving consumer preferences, lifestyle trends, and expanding online retail channels.

Out of the trademark applications filed in 2025, 53.96% were submitted by domestic applicants, while 46.04% were filed by foreign applicants. Among foreign filers, China ranked first, accounting for 58.76% of foreign applications, followed by the United States (14.59%), Japan (10.59%), South Korea (8.88%), and Singapore (7.18%). Notably, these five jurisdictions remain the same as the top foreign filers in 2024.

Based on the report of the Department of Intellectual Property, the top filer in 2025 was POP MART (Singapore) Holding Pte. Ltd., a leading company in the art toy collectibles market, which filed more than 200 trademark applications during the year. This substantial filing activity underscores the remarkable expansion of the arty toy and collectibles market in Thailand, where brands seek trademark protection to support business growth and safeguard  their intellectual property rights against potential infringement in this emerging market.

In term of filing routes, the majority of new applications (85.39%) were filed directly through the domestic system, while the remaining 14.61% were submitted via the Madrid System designating Thailand. The predominance of domestic-route filings is consistent with global trends reported by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), where most trademark applications continue to be filed directly at national or regional offices while the Madrid System serves as a procedural mechanism for seeking trademark protection in multiple designated jurisdictions through a single application.

As for marks registered, a total of 40,062 trademarks registrations were granted in 2025, representing  the highest number in the past five years, marking a 32.15% increase from the previous year. This substantial growth reflects the Department of Intellectual Property’s continued commitment and effort to enhance service efficiency through various initiatives, including the Fast Track programs. These measures enable eligible applications to proceed more swiftly while strengthening overall administrative performance within the Office.

As 2026 unfolds, we look forward to seeing how filing activity evolves and how ongoing improvements continue to strengthen Thailand’s trademark system.
